Apple announces the iPhone 5

Today Apple announced the iPhone 5. The most prominent feature is the new 4'' 16:9 screen featuring a 1136x640 resolution equaling 326dpi. The home screen is using the additional space to display one row of icons more, all Apple apps have already been adjusted to take full advantage of the new resolution while 3rd party apps will slowly adept. If you run a App that is not adjusted you will get black bars on top and bottom of the phone and the application will run in 960x480. The screen is featuring a In-Cell technology making it brighter, better contrast and less reflection according to Apple.

Powered by the new Apple A6 CPU (specs unknown yet) the handheld is, according to EA and Apple, able to put out Console quality 3D graphics.

The new iPhone is featuring GSM, UMTS/HSPA+ (up to 42.2mbit) as well as LTE, BlueTooth 4 and Wi-Fi 802.11n boosting wireless connection up to 150mbit. The iSight camera stays at 8-megapixel but get improved sensors and stabilization. The front FaceTime camera is now a 1.2mbit (720p) HD cam.

There seems to be huge improvements on Battery since with all the upgraded features and even some really power-hungry stuff like LTE, the new iPhone is supposed have a overall better run time then the 4S.

According to Apple you can talk up to 8 hours, surf 8 hours on LTE, 10 on Wi-Fi and watch Videos for 10 hours. Standby is up to 225 hours.

This all comes in a really gorgeous crafted case that is 20% lighter and 18% thinner then the iPhone 4S.

For the first time since the introduction of the orginal iPod Apple is changing the Dock connector, the new one called "Lighting" is smaller and, which is really great, reversible. If you own already devices you plug-in via the dock connector don't fear; an adapter will be available


EarPods, Apples in-ear headphones got an upgrade as well and are supposed to be actually great this time.
