Nostalgic Sunday - Play NES games on your Mac

The Nintendo Entertainment System, or in short NES, is one of my favorite Game Systems of all Time. I will never forget the magic of playing the first Super Mario Bros or Zelda. Till today i feel the urge to replay some of those great classics and the best way to do this is Nestopia (besides owning a real NES).
"Nestopia is the current king of the NES emulation hill. It uses highly optimized cycle exact emulation, allowing it to run titles that rely on precise timing, many of which break under inferior emulators. This accurate emulation does come at a cost; Nestopia requires a minimum of a 600MHz machine for full speed; but if you have one, this the best available NES emulation for Mac."
Nestopia is freeware but to gain access to all of the features like Fullscreen, Netplay and so on you will need to install "Emulation Enhancer" which is shareware (though its just a nagscreen on startup).
  • Support for 201 different mappers.
  • Famicom Disk System (FDS) emulation.
  • Support for the Zapper Light Gun.
  • Support for the five most common additional sound chips.
Features with Emulation Enhancer
  • Netplay
  • Fullscreen
  • USB Joypad support
