Caffeine - don't let your Mac fall asleep

Simple, realy useful, tool i use daily to stop my MacBook from going to sleep-mode.

Caffeine is a tiny program that puts an icon in the right side of your menu bar. Click it to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back. Right-click (or ⌘-click) the icon to show the menu.

Not for me. I always have sleep mode set to never, same for screensaver. I only do so manually if I really need to, can't use a sleeping computer otherwise..

while watching movies all media players usually disable sleep while the movie is playing

... do you really need an extra program for that? Windows has customisable power management built in.

@Nom de Plume
of course you can set the energy settings from the control panel but this is not what this app gets used for

If I installed that it would always be on. In that case I might as well just turn the power saving off. Currently I just set it to not kick in until an hour of idle time.

Very nifty

Not to be pedantic but Windows has had energy profiles each one customizable to how long the computer should be idle before going to sleep or dimming the display for years...

The program name is creative and I guess it does what its named after lol

Shouldn't it be able to do this without this add on?

@WOODLOUSE
of course the app is used to temporary disable your energy save profile
so you can just keep you macbook keep running in special cases it's bit of pain to change the energy profile every time you dont want sleep enabled
