Evernote - make a note. Or 500,000 of them

Evernote is a digital file cabinet, you can create notebooks and store any kind of digital information inside them. You can search and organize those informations quickly and in a intuitive way. Evernote is basically a online service with multiplattform clients, but you can work offline as well and sync your notes back when you are online. The free online service has monthly usage limitations (currently 60 MB/month), and displays a "usage" meter. A premium service is also available that currently costs $5 per month or $45 per year, and currently offers 1,000 MB/month usage.

You can tag your notes, even geotag them, to find what you search for even faster.

Evernote in a Nutshell:

1. Capture everything.
Chances are, if you can see it or think of it, Evernote can help you remember it. Type a text note. Clip a web page. Snap a photo. Grab a screenshot. Evernote will keep it all safe.

2. Organize it.
Everything you capture is automatically processed, indexed, and made searchable. If you like, you can add tags or organize notes into different notebooks.

3. Find anything fast.
Search for notes by keywords, titles, and tags. Evernote magically makes printed and handwritten text inside your images searchable, too.

You can also access and create notes from a mobile device like an iPhone:

Evernote is a great tool, easy to use, available on nearly every plattform (Mac,Win,iOS,Android,...) and the free service offers more then enough for what i need.

That's kinda cool. I feel its something that the longer you have it, the more useful ways you will discover how to use it.

That looks really useful, an easy to use cloud service, and the free usage looks to be reasonable. I'll give this a shot

This is not really nessecary? I have my portable HDD, which comes in handy time to time. But eventhough I dont need this program, it is still nice for the people who do need it.

Robert: you write you notes down on your external hdd with a pen?
I dont get it, if you go shopping you put your external hdd on your smartphone for your buy list? I think thats pretty unhandy.

It's available for iphone? Neat, I'll consider a subscription as 60mb isn't that much if I want to store pictures online. WIll try it out first though

M.D. Flodström: for storing pictures and videos i would recommend dropbox

Another great cross platform app. I dunno about paying to use it though, not sure that's worth it unless you are a massive user.
