AppCleaner - Uninstall your apps properly

AppCleaner is a small application which allows you to thoroughly uninstall unwanted apps.

On Mac OS X uninstall means mostly just drag'n'drop the app onto the trashcan, this can leave some files like application settings, cache and other related files on your hard drive.

AppCleaner finds all these small files and safely deletes them.

Simply drop an application onto the AppCleaner window. It will find for the related files and you can delete them by clicking the delete button.
You can also choose to remove a application from your application folder directly in AppCleaner.
Or remove unneeded Dashboard Widgets.

Easy to Use
AppCleaner is extremely easy to use with its drag and drop interface.

SmartDelete
It will offer to delete an app properly when you move it to trash.

History Log
All the files deleted are stored in a history.

Protect your favorites apps
Prevent your favorite apps from being deleted accidentally.
AppCleaner is freeware.

Neat. Wonder if there's a program like this for windows?

This is a great idea. I know on a Mac it should be as easy as drag and drop to "uninstall" but there are a lot of left over pref files that need to be cleaned up as well

I've always hated how Mac users think that just dragging the icon into the trash deletes the program and everything associated with it.

Trelin said...

I thought macs didn't have this problem. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I have never trusted the drag and drop 'uninstall'.
Nice to see there is a good program to do it properly.

Lhosreiff said...

As simplified as possible.

this type of application is always useful since programs leave libraries and other kind of files scattered around the hard disc.
