Well, at least in a visual way.
Cathode satisfies our grief for nostalgia by providing a beautiful detailed emulation of old school bitmap fonts and tv/monitor behavior.
With endless customization options you can build the setup of your youth like you remember it.
Some of the features:
Beautiful Bitmaps
Choose from a handful of classic bitmap fonts, or, use a modern one already installed on your machine. Turn up the interlace for extra authenticity.
Look and Feel
Bask in the glow of over-bright phosphors that flash on and slowly fade away. Customize the screen's curvature, colors, and transparency. Slow the bit-rate to a crawl.
Wear and Tear
Watch the strange dance of beam desyncs and shifting colors. Turn up the noise, jitter, and flicker to add a realistic warmth.Technology
Written in modern OpenGL and Cocoa for a thoroughly Mac-like experience. Most of the app's processing is done on the GPU.Its free to use but the display quality will slowly degrade until the app is relaunched, you can disable this by buying a license for 20$.
My own Theme c128 on a 1991 lcd :3
After combining c64ish fonts with a bit higher resolution i was stunned to see that this basically resamples the nt3.51/4 save mode.
