App Tamer - get multitasking under control

In computing, multitasking is a method where multiple tasks, also known as processes, share common processing resources such as a CPU and memory. While in the past most operating systems used cooperative multitasking where applications must free resources for other applications nowadays nearly all operating systems use preemptive multitasking where the operating system takes care of giving resources to the applications. In theory this works good while in the real world some applications tend to consume a lot of resources  even in the background to play animations or do other stuff you might not want to take up your precious resources. This is where App Tamer comes in, it allows you to actually pause unneeded applications automatically to save resources. On a Laptop this means longer batterie life and less annoying fan sounds.

GrandPerspective - graphically disk usage map

GrandPerspective is a small utility application for Mac OS X that graphically shows the disk usage within a file system. It can help you to manage your disk, as you can easily spot which files and folders take up the most space. It uses a so called tree map for visualisation. Each file is shown as a rectangle with an area proportional to the file's size. Files in the same folder appear together, but their placement is otherwise arbitrary.

Wiiji - Wii joystick interface

Wiiji is the perfect joystick solution for Wii remotes on Mac. Since i bricked my wii last year i had 2 spare Wiimotes around which where pretty useless to me. Until if found Wiiji.
With Wiiji, your Wii remotes will appear as ordinary joysticks to any application that supports joystick input. If your favorite game doesn't support joysticks, Wiiji can emulate keyboard input, too. I use it to play different emulators and it works just perfect and gives a round of Super Mario Bros 3 just the right feeling.

Lion Preview: About this Mac

Just a little change, but interesting nonetheless, Apple changed the System Profiler which opens when you click "More info.." in the  "About this Mac" Window in Lion to a more iOS styled App.

It's quite useful for system administrators or to do a quick hardware check.
